LSVb on a visit in Moldova
SOLID, the solidarity working group of the National Union of Students (LSVb) organises in cooperation with the Wageningen Student Union (WSO) an exchange with students from Moldova. Nine Dutch students will visit the Union of Students in Moldova to be introduced into the Higher Education system and student participation.
The goal of the exchange project is to support Moldovan students in establishing student councils and strengthen the democracy. The project in Moldova will last for 3 years.
In October 2005, five Dutch students travelled to Moldova and in May 6 Moldovan students came to Wageningen. Those students are a member of the Alianţa Studenţilor din Moldova (ASM), the Moldovan student union or the student council. During the week they have been following workshops about lobby techniques, educational quality, student participation, international agreements (Bologna) and democracy. Furthermore, the Moldovan and Dutch students have discussed together about the role of students in social reformation process in West- and Eastern Europe.
The trip to Moldova in July is mainly meant to explore the situation of Moldovan Higher Education, the structure of co-management on different levels and to taste each others culture. The Dutch students will visit several student organisations, the ministry of education and the youth council. The week will be brought to an end with a press conference.
